Pivot – See Beyond the Payout
Effective date: October 29, 2026
Developer: Jalen Dove
Pivot helps you pause and reflect before placing a sports bet. This policy explains what information Pivot uses, where it is kept, which outside services are involved, and the choices you have.
Pivot has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your bets, reflections, and preferences are stored on your iPhone. A few outside services that Pivot relies on (Apple, Google ML Kit, and RevenueCat) receive limited technical information to do their jobs, as described below. Pivot does not sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
01Information you provide
When you use Pivot, you may enter:
Bet details: stake, odds or payout multiplier, potential profit and total return, sportsbook, bet format (for example, single, parlay, or round robin), number of legs or picks, bet timing (pre-game or live), when you plan to place the bet, and whether the bet was placed, not placed, or saved for later, including when you say you placed it. For a round robin, this includes its total stake, number of selections, and the payout you enter.
Your context: moods and motivations you choose to record, including any custom text you type.
Daily reflections: your answers about how much time betting occupied on a given day.
Limits: weekly and monthly spending limits and a weekly time limit, if you set them.
Preferences: reminder times, favorite NFL and NBA teams, favorite and custom sportsbooks, and similar settings.
Your first name, if you choose to enter one, which Pivot uses to personalize a few screens.
Age confirmation: that you confirmed you're 18 or older. Pivot stores this only on your iPhone.
Bet-slip screenshots, if you choose to scan one (see Section 4).
You don't need to create an account, and Pivot doesn't ask for your email address, phone number, or payment card details.
02How Pivot uses this information
Pivot uses the information above only to provide the app's features:
Showing a Reality Check for a bet (probability, payout, and context)
Keeping your Bet History
Tracking your progress against limits you set
Showing your Daily Reflections and patterns (Pivot+)
Scheduling the reminders you turn on
Personalizing the app with your first name
These calculations happen on your iPhone.
03Where your information is stored
The information you enter in Pivot is stored locally on your iPhone, inside the app's private storage. Pivot doesn't upload it to any server and doesn't use iCloud to sync it.
Pivot also keeps a few records it creates itself, such as when your last few Reality Checks were shown and which messages they displayed (so Pivot doesn't repeat itself), counts used for free features, the last subscription status RevenueCat confirmed, and the details it needs to schedule your reminders. These also stay on your iPhone.
Pivot's saved data is not included in iCloud or computer backups of your iPhone. If you delete Pivot, or move to a new iPhone, your saved bets, reflections, and settings will not come with you and can't be recovered.
One exception: RevenueCat, which manages Pivot+ subscriptions (see Section 5), keeps your anonymous Support ID and a copy of your subscription status in your iPhone's settings storage. That storage can be included in iCloud or computer backups, so this information may be restored along with a backup. It doesn't include your bets, reflections, limits, or name.
04Bet-slip scanning
If you choose to scan a bet slip, you select a screenshot from your photo library, or share one to Pivot from another app. Pivot then reads the text on it using Google ML Kit text recognition, which runs on your iPhone. The screenshot and the text read from it are not sent to Google or to us.
Pivot uses the recognized text only to fill in the review form, which you can check and correct. Pivot saves the details you confirm (such as stake and odds) with your review. It doesn't save the screenshot itself, or the text read from it, with your review.
To read a screenshot, Pivot works with temporary copies on your iPhone: the copy the photo picker or the share sheet gives Pivot, and working images made while the text is read. Pivot deletes these copies once it's finished with them: the working images when reading ends, and Pivot's copy of the screenshot when you remove or replace it or finish that review. If Pivot is closed before then, it removes the leftovers the next time you open it. The photo-picker copy and the working images aren't included in backups. A screenshot shared to Pivot from another app is kept in a folder that iCloud or computer backups can include, so a backup made while Pivot is still using that screenshot may contain it. Deleting the app removes all of these copies from your iPhone. Your original screenshot in Photos, or in the app you shared it from, is never changed or deleted.
The first time you scan from your photo library, Pivot asks for permission to access your photos. iOS lets you allow access to all your photos or only to photos you select. Either way, you then pick one screenshot with Apple's photo picker, and Pivot reads only the screenshot you pick. It doesn't browse, copy, or upload anything else in your library. If you don't allow access, you can still enter bets manually or share a screenshot to Pivot from another app. You can change this permission at any time in your iPhone's Settings → Pivot → Photos.
05Outside services
Pivot relies on the following services. Each receives only what it needs, and each handles that information under its own privacy policy.
Google ML Kit (text recognition)
ML Kit reads bet-slip text on your device and doesn't send your images or their text to Google. Like other ML Kit features, it does send Google limited technical and usage information. This includes device and app information (such as device model, operating-system version, and app version), a per-installation identifier that isn't meant to identify you personally, performance metrics, and error information. Google uses this to maintain and improve ML Kit. Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
RevenueCat (subscription management)
Pivot+ subscriptions are bought through Apple and managed with RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives:
an anonymous app user ID that it creates for your installation,
your purchase and subscription information from Apple (for example, which plan you bought and whether it's active),
technical information about your device and the app (such as device model, operating-system version, app version, language, and App Store country), and
Apple's identifier for vendor, a device identifier that is specific to Pivot.
Pivot connects to RevenueCat only after you confirm you're 18 or older. Pivot doesn't give RevenueCat your name, email address, or any of your betting information, reflections, or limits. RevenueCat processes this information on our behalf to tell Pivot whether your subscription is active. In Pivot, the anonymous app user ID is your Support ID, which you can copy in Settings → Support. RevenueCat's Privacy Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy-policy
Apple
Apple processes your payment and subscription when you purchase Pivot+. We never see your payment details. Apple also delivers the notifications Pivot schedules on your device. Apple's Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Links you open
When you tap a link in Pivot, such as the Terms of Use, a research source, or the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline, the website, phone, or Messages app opens it outside Pivot under that service's own policies.
06Notifications
Pivot uses notifications scheduled on your device for Bet Check-Ins, Daily Reflection reminders, and favorite-team game reminders. They're scheduled on your iPhone only, and Pivot doesn't use a server to send them. Pivot asks for permission before sending notifications, and you can turn them off at any time in Pivot or in your iPhone's Settings.
NFL and NBA game schedules
Pivot includes NFL and NBA game schedules within the app to support favorite-team reminders. These schedules are stored on your iPhone and aren't downloaded from an outside service.
Notifications can appear on your Lock Screen and may mention betting or a favorite team's game. To hide notification content on your Lock Screen, use your iPhone's notification preview settings.
07Sharing, advertising, and tracking
Pivot does not sell your information.
Pivot does not show ads and contains no advertising services.
Pivot does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and doesn't use Apple's advertising identifier.
Pivot doesn't share your betting information, reflections, limits, or name with anyone.
08Keeping and deleting your information
On your iPhone: your information stays until you delete it.
Settings → Bet history → Clear bet history permanently deletes all saved bets and their Reality Checks from your iPhone. It doesn't delete your name, reflections, limits, reminders, or other settings, or the short record of when your last few Reality Checks were shown and which messages they displayed; those remain until you change them or delete the app.
You can edit or clear your name, limits, reminders, and favorite teams in the app.
Deleting the Pivot app removes the information Pivot has stored on your iPhone, including your saved bets, reflections, settings, and RevenueCat's local copy of your Support ID. Deleting Pivot doesn't remove information from backups you've already made. An earlier backup may still contain RevenueCat's Support ID and subscription status (see Section 3), or a screenshot shared to Pivot while it was still being used (see Section 4).
With outside services:
Apple keeps your purchase records under Apple's policies. To cancel a subscription, go to your iPhone's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or see https://support.apple.com/en-us/118428. Deleting Pivot doesn't cancel a subscription.
RevenueCat keeps subscription records under its retention policy. Your Support ID is the anonymous identifier of the RevenueCat record for your installation of Pivot. To ask for help with that record, or for it to be deleted, email support@getpivot.us with your Support ID (in Pivot: Settings → Support → Support ID → Copy). If you purchased Pivot+ and can no longer open Pivot, you can include the Order ID from Apple's receipt email for that purchase instead, and we'll use it to look for your record where RevenueCat's lookup tools allow. An Order ID can't identify an installation that never subscribed, and we can't guarantee that we'll find a record when that information isn't available. Deleting a RevenueCat record doesn't cancel an App Store subscription: subscriptions are managed and cancelled through Apple, as described above. If you keep using Pivot afterward, a new anonymous record may be created.
Google keeps ML Kit technical information under Google's policies.
09Your choices
You can:
use Pivot without scanning, without setting a name, and without turning on notifications,
turn notifications off in Pivot or in iPhone Settings,
choose which screenshots, if any, to share with Pivot,
delete saved bets in Settings, or delete all of Pivot's data on your iPhone by deleting the app, and
contact us at support@getpivot.us with questions or requests about information held by the services above.
10Age requirement
Pivot is intended for adults 18 and older. When you start using Pivot, it asks you to confirm that you're 18 or older. Pivot doesn't verify your age, and it never asks for your birthdate or any identification; your confirmation is stored only on your iPhone. Pivot isn't directed to anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has used Pivot, deleting the app removes everything Pivot stored on that device, and you're welcome to contact us at support@getpivot.us.
11Security
Pivot stores your information in the app's private storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS's app sandbox and your device's passcode and data protection. Outside services transmit information over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. Keeping your iPhone locked with a passcode helps protect your information.
12Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the updated version at this address and update the effective date above. If a change is significant, we'll also let you know in the app or in the App Store release notes.
